Candy Havens Calling

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to be here. I'm Candy Havens and I write fiction as well as non fiction. (I interview celebs for the day job) I won't bore you with details about me, you can check those out on my website www.candacehavens.com. You can get to my blogs there where I also talk about everything including the celebs (I have photos of Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku up right now) I interview, book stuff and life in general.

I'm also excited because it's the release day for "Charmed & Ready" in mass market. Everyone always asks if I have a favorite book I've written. That's like picking a favorite child, but I can say one of my favorite characters ever is in "Charmed & Ready."

His name is Zane, and he's a rock star. I've always said he was an amalgamation of rock stars I'd interviewed through the years, but the truth is he's really only two guys. And I feel the need to share that with you now, even though I've kept it a secret for a long time. The two men, who couldn't be more different, are Bono and Mick Jagger. How crazy is that? And I threw in a little of Mike Myer's wardrobe from "Austin Powers" to give him a specific style. Lots of velvet suits and ruffles.

The reason he's one of my favorites? There's so much more to him than meets the eye. The rest of the world sees him as a womanizing, partying rock star without a care in the world. But Bronwyn, the heroine in the Charmed series, sees more. She sees the caring uncle who will do anything for his orphaned niece. She sees the insecure man who buys things for those he cares about to keep from having to say how much he loves them. She also sees the incredible strength of the man behind the ruffled shirts and tight jeans. Some day I hope to give Zane his own story. He really does deserve a witch of his own.

We are also launching a new look for my website today, so I'd love to hear your comments about that. We're calling it a temporary makeover because there's an even more drastic change happening in a few months. Oh, and if you're interested in writing you can click on the workshop portion of the site. It's a great community of writers and we have a lot of fun while being very productive. I'm getting ready to teach my Fast Draft class where I give tips on how to finish that first draft in two weeks. I'll also be teaching a class on high concept and exactly what that is. Kensington Editor Hilary Sares will be teaching in a few weeks, as well as my agent, Elaine Spencer. (She doesn't know that yet, so let's keep it a secret for now. :-) ) LOL. It's amazing that she puts up with me.
