The trouble is, the publisher I was with at the time didn’t like the concept and even if you’ve had two midlist books published, it’s not easy for an author who’s been published in category since 1979 to find just the right home for her work. It meant a new agent who fell in love with Jazz and her fellow witches and who was willing to find just that right home for a snarky sassy witch whose bunny slippers oddly named Fluff and Puff sport razor sharp teeth and were more efficient than a garbage disposal, a cranky ghost haunting this witch’s 1956 T-Bird convertible, a mortal housemate who knows there’s odd things out there, we are talking LA after all!, but still freaks out when meeting a vampire. And not to mention said witch’s vampire ex who was once an enforcer for the vampire community and now works as a PI for the supernaturals.
I was so happy when Deb Werksman at Sourcebooks acquired 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover and wanted more books. She recognized my crazy vision about Jazz and the other witches and let me run with it. And not once has she winced!

And I’m so happy that reviewers and readers felt the same way I did about Jazz and company. Many have told me they’re looking forward to the next book, Hex Appeal, which will be out this Halloween. Look for some fan fiction contests leading up to the book’s release and it will also be carried in Target.
Then, the news always seemed to get better as a producer let us know she’d love to pitch Jazz and crew as a TV series pilot or a movie. So Jazz is moving on out there and needless to say, I’m very happy for her and would love it if she does show up on the small or big screen.
I just finished writing the third book, Wicked By Any Other Name, which will be out next March and features Stasi Romanov, one of Jazz’s fellow witches, who has a few odd critters in her household too, such as a pervert of a gargoyle who likes hanging out in her lingerie boutique’s dressing rooms.

This series is a joy to write and I swear I have no idea what will happen next, but the characters are more than happy to let me know. And Fluff and Puff are right there to help me. My own bunny slippers are pretty quiet, but I had the true Fluff and Puff tattooed on my ankle and they really do look like the real thing.
So yes, it’s been one hex of a journey that’s been fun, crazy and wild all at the same time. We’re just one big happy, slightly freaky family, and one I feel very comfortable with. Hm, I wonder what that says about me. :}
I’ll be giving away 3 signed copies of 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover to 3 who comment. And I hope you’ll all pick up Hex Appeal when it comes out in late October. It would make Jazz, Fluff & Puff happy too.
Could you be comfortable with a family where pretty much anything that can happen does happen? Or would you worry that your bunny slippers might nibble off your toes if they didn’t want to be worn that day?

I'm not sure I want to see my house after a day of bunny slippers and Rottweilers alone together while I was at work. Hubby at home alone with the Rotts is bad enough. *shudder*
I'm curious as to what you're tattoo artist thought/said when you told him what you wanted on your ankle. Some how I just imagine this big, burly tattoo artist looking at you and saying...you want what?! Pink bunny slippers with bloody fangs?! *L* Any he/she did a great job.
The tattoo is lovely! Did it hurt? I have a tattoo on each ankle/lower leg and one hurt but the other didn't so it is always interesting to hear what others say. Is it your first/only tattoo?
Cool tat! I've never read any of your books but I will definately check in to it! I love meeting new authors.
Hi Linda,
Thanks for blogging with us today and wow look at Fluff and Puff!
I must say I can't wait for Hex Appeal and more of the Jazz friction. I do hope you will have Irma and Nick in there too. Irma is such a hoot and Nick is just too lucious. Can you possibly dream me up a guy like Nick but in real life! (grin) Hey I can dream can't I!
Have a great day sweetie!
huggs,
Terra
I haven't had a chance to read your books but I have added them to my to be read list. I also love the tattoo.
Hi Linda! I have been so excited waiting for Hex Appeal in Halloween... now I already know that I can start counting on another installment in next March! How cool is that.
Fluff and Puff look amazing. Did they threaten the artist?
Hi Linda,
your books sound great with a lot of fun, I've added them to my wishlist.
I think my family with hubby, two kids and three cats is enough excitement for me, but I do love to read about a family like that...
My house can get pretty chaotic what with a dog, 3 cats and my sister's 2 and 4 year old coming over frequently, lol. I'm always up for more craziness if it's of the magic variety though! *wink*
I love your tatoo, it looks great! :)
Great tattoo! I love Fluff and Puff -- they're too cute! :)
That book sounds fun! I'd love to read it. Thank you!

Hi Daelith,
The slippers and rotts? Yeah, way too scary and not in a fun scary way either.
Actually, all the artists in the shop were fascinated with the concept. I took in the avatar I have on their MySpace now and explained I wanted them to have fangs and a couple drops of blood dripping down. The artist, Patrick David, was fantastic, went back there and drew what's on my ankle. He asked if that was okay and I'm exclaiming "yeah!" All the guys took book postcards and told me I need to be at ComicCon.
And Patrick David wasn't big and burly, sorta young and really very sweet. He took lots of pics of the tat aftewards. I still need to go by there and tell them all the excitement the tat started up.

Hi Amberkatze!
No, it didn't hurt at all but a few times I was positive my toes twitched. I was told they didn't. I guess officially it's not my first since I have permanent eyebrows and eyeliner, but it is the most fun. :}
I will say one girl was in there with a gorgeous picture on her side and she said she almost passed out when it was done.
Linda
Thanks Leah!
I hope you enjoy Jazz.
Linda
Thanks for having me Terra!
All the crew are back in Hex Appeal along with some girly crocodile stilettos.
Oh honey, if I conjured up Nick in real life I might not want to give him up. :}
Linda
Thanks Tiffany!
Linda
Hi Majgie!
No, the slippers were pretty well behaved. They saw this as their chance for stardom.
Linda
Thanks Eva!
I have to say they're totally fun.
Linda
Hi Sidhevicious!
I dread to think what the slippers would do there!
Linda
Thanks Bunny B!
Linda
Love the tatoo and I'm thinking of getting one myself someday. I guess I have to work up to it since I'm not one thats good with pain. Was thinkig of getting it on the back of my shoulder. Enjoyed your post today!
Thanks Tetewa!
All the guys are great where I went. And it's good if you go to a place recommended to you. My manicurist has a gorgeous dolphin on the inside of her ankle that was done there.
Linda
Linda, are you kidding? That IS my family - anything can happen at absolutely any time. No point in worrying about it, though, because there's nothing to be done to change it.
Kate
Love the tattoo! it's so cute. I haven't read 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover yet but I'm really looking forward to it, it sounds so wacky and funny!
Oh! my family? totally insane! *grins*
I love the sound of this series, the bunny slippers are an added bonus, it's the sort of touch that really lifts a book. Chaos rules. At one point we had a pack of 7 dogs. Lost the last one a year ago and haven't had the heart to replace them.
the tattoo is very nice. and no i don't think i would like your slippers lose in my house, though well if they could get rid of some of the mess, i might warm up to them!
Hi Linda,
I just dropped in to say and wish you the best of luck with your new series and woo hoo, you go girl for the movie or TV screen, here's wishing the best of all worlds no matter where you are...lol...Tabitha Shay
The tattoo cracked me up. I bet it could be a conversation starter for sure.I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of your book it sounds like a fun read.
Hey Kate!
Good to see a fellow Witchy Chick!
With family members like that we don't need TV.
Linda
Thanks Wendy!
I admit I'm having a blast writing these books.
Linda
Thanks Dawnm.
Fluff and Puff are very popular and love to hang out with a fan of mine.
Linda
Thanks Katayoun
They do pretty much tend to eat everything and more times eat what you don't want them to eat.
Linda
Hi Tabitha!
Thank you so much for stopping by! And thanks!
Linda
Yes, definitely a conversation piece, Carmen r. Someone at the hairdresser's asked about it and the owner said "I told you they were rabbits!" Hm, way more than that.
Linda
Great Blog Aunt Lin.
I can't wait for Stasi's story, because I'm WAY excited to read about Horace! =D
I prefer crazy families!!! It's all the more fun and entertaining. I don't know what I'd do if my family was boring and "Normal". Guess I'd have to watch more TV...
Anyways, My crazy family is the best. =) Both blood and "Adopted". I have the most bizarre parents that make my home life fun. And then I have you and Terey. =) My "Aunts" LOL. I wouldn't trade my crazy family for anything.
*Ash Nay*
Linda, Your books are awesome fun, and I love getting the chance to read them ahead of time. :) I'm thrilled with the news of a possible TV series, never mind the movie. Woo Hoo. Hugs,
Annette Blair, Fellow Witchy Chick
Hey Devoted Niece!
True, your aunts make life interesting for you. :}
Linda
Hey Annette!
And thanks, Chick!
Yes, it would be cool.
Linda
I don't think I could handle it. I have anxiety issues. I don't have bunny slipper but I do have giraffe slippers. Now that would be a site to see if the nibbled off my toes. LOL
I am glad you found a new home for your books. Hex Appeal sounds good. I love the tattoo.
I had to chuckle when I saw that HEX APPEAL will be out on Halloween. That's my birthday and I'll be getting one hex of a gift! ;) Looking forward to reading it.
Hi Linda,
Your book sounds like a lot of fun, I've added it to my to buy list.
Let's just say there is never a dull moment in my family; some days chaos rules.
Hi Linda :)
I'm single and no kids, so I think I'll choose to go with the bunny slippers!!!
It was cool reading your blog.
cheers,
Lemonitsa
Giraffe slippers sound fun.
Thanks Cheryl.
It's fun seeing where the book will take me.
Linda
kz4ufo
Target has it planned for then and it is a perfect time for the book.
Linda
Chaos is always fun, night critter. I think because you never know where it will lead to.
Linda
Thanks lemonitsa!
The slippers can be entertaining too.
Linda
Hi Linda! Great post! You know I'm looking forward to Hex Appeal and all the other witchy books! :D
