Terra ~ Marguerite Argeneau is the beloved matron of the Argeneau clan and a hopeless romantic. Do you think she does her match making is more out of the motherly love she has for all those around her or is it more of a driven womans institutions that clues her in?Lynsay ~ It’s a combination of both. They say everyone has their talent and immortals are no different. They have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Marguerite’s strength happens to be that she can tune in to her immortal intuition and just knows whom would be good with whom.
Terra ~ Which of the Argeneau books that you’ve written so far would be your favorite and why? Also, is there the possibility of an ending to this family in the future that you can see or are you going to keep us all happy with as many more of these wonderful stories?
Lynsay ~ My favorite will always be Single, White Vampire for a number of reasons. It was my first Argeneau published, Kate and Lucern just really clicked as a couple so it was a lot of fun to write and I can relate to Lucern’s character because he’s an author too.
As for how many more I'll write, I really don't know. There are still so many interesting characters. I mean, Marguerite's son Christian deserves a life mate, and Jeanne Louise, that poor girl needs one, and you know those hot Notte twins really need to be hooked up because it just seems criminal to leave hot men like that wandering around unattached. . . I guess we'll have to wait and see how many more come.
Terra ~ Why did you pick Tiny as the victim in this particular story and why pair him with someone so totally opposite in nature?
Lynsay ~ Well opposites do attract, right? Besides, I think couples need to compliment each other. Mirabeau needed a partner that could soften her harder edges and Tiny needs a little wild in his life. Also Tiny is not the stereotypical kind of guy. He's built like a linebacker, cooks like a God, smart as a whip as a detective, and is as patient as Jobe. He's perfect for Mirabeau, he'll be an asset to her. Besides, his best friend is Jackie who also happens to be edgy so I think we can assume he and Mirabeau will do all right.
Terra ~ Are there any of the characters in your stories that resemble anyone in your family?
Lynsay ~ OK, the Willan sisters are based very loosely on my sisters. Remember that cottage scene in The Rogue Hunter when Jo was chasing after Alex as she was mowing the lawn attempting to scare away the deer flies swarming her? Yah . . . that really happened with my younger sister chasing around and beating off flies for my older sister who was handling the lawn mower. LOL
But there are loads of instances like that and even characters either named after or carrying the traits of friends or family I have. Marguerite is named after my mother and carries some of her traits. Then there is Leigh, Justin Bricker, DJ, etc. Readers have encountered many of my family and friends in the stories in one way or another. They do say write what you know. (grin)
Terra ~ Why pick Canada as a base for the Argeneau clan? Also, you seem to have the major companies they work at in big cities, any particular reasoning for this?
Lynsay ~ Well I am Canadian and knew Toronto. I prefer to base stories places I have been so I know what I'm talking about and don't make huge mistakes about cities I've never visited. Besides this is just one immortal family out of many.
As for the major companies working in big cities, that’s just necessary. Most major companies have their head office in major cities. I assume this is for a few reasons; the demand for their product is larger there; there’s a larger employment pool to choose from; and they have to have a solid corporate image not only to ensure public confidence but to ensure corporate confidence as well especially with companies they have to work with, make deals with, etc.

Terra ~ When you think of the Argeneau’s, how close do you feel they are in comparison to your real family? Do you only think of them as a fairy tale family or are they a bit more real in your world since you deal with them on such a constant basis?
Lynsay ~ Well, many characters are loosely based on family and friends of mine so I expect that they would be a bit more real to me than usual and I do love my real family very much. That being said, my characters are like my kids. I care about what happens to them, I don’t like to see them hurt or in harms way. They aren’t perfect so they do make mistakes but they usually learn from those mistakes and in general they are good people . . . kinda like my real family. Gees, guess they're definitely a bit more real to me . . . LOL
Terra ~ Can you give us a glimpse into the future of what possible storylines you might be thinking of and why do these storylines seem to attract you?
Lynsay ~ Well, Born To Bite (Armand’s story) is based in a small town on a farm and involves the mystery of his wives’ deaths. It also answers some questions that were left from Nicholas’s story but couldn’t be revealed then.
Hungry For You is Alex Willan's story, the last of the Willan sisters.
Other than that, I have had a few ideas but cannot promise anything. I may do Christian's story, I'm hoping to if he cooperates. I may also revisit Port Henry sometime in the future . . . And I really think Jeanne Louise does deserve a life mate. . . But who cooperates and tells me their story is the one who gets written about.
Terra ~ With the amount of books that you write how do you find time for yourself in any given day? Has anyone in your family ever compared you to the Energizer bunny cause you seem to just keep going and going?
Lynsay ~ LOL . . . I guess I have been pretty prolific at times but it is weird to hear someone say it. I think it’s because I can write a book within a month. The reason for that is when I write, I do it 24/7 and everything else in my life goes on hold, no matter what it is. It’s just my process. Believe me, this is not always a good thing. Just ask my friends and family when I don’t see them for months on end! So I write around the clock for a month or two if deadlines are back to back like the next two and then spend two or three months doing promotional stuff, and business stuff and answering reader's letters while trying to catch up on everything I neglected while writing.
Terra ~ When you write an anthology do you get any say in who the other authors are that will be in the same book with you or does the publisher have full rights to pair you with whomever they choose? Also, so you get to see the ideas the other authors have before you write your story or is it just write a story along certain guidelines and hope that none of you clash with each other?
Lynsay ~ Oh . . . the publisher has full control over that. I often think that people believe writers have more control over aspects of their books than they really do. The publisher chooses the title, the cover, the blurb on the back and for newbie writers even change content of their story. I can voice my opinion but ultimately the decision is the publisher’s and unless the stories are entwined or connected somehow I won't see their story. Heck I didn't even know who was doing the other stories in Bitten by Cupid and still haven't read them . . . though I got my copies a couple days ago so will now.
Terra ~ If someone asked you to recommend five authors that you think are promising up and coming hits whom do you think you would recommend and why?
Lynsay ~ It always amazes me that people think I have time to read. LOL. I don't read romance much. I think I'm afraid it will color my own stories. I tend to lean toward horror. Dean Koontz, John Saul, and J.F.Lewis’s Staked and Revamped. Gees, I can't even come up with five. That's so sad.
Terra ~ Did you make a New Year’s resolution or two and if so what would you consider the most important one and why?
Lynsay ~ YES I did! I have stopped procrastinating on some things that needed to be done and have started working toward being a happier, healthier self. My resolution is to take care of myself, both physically and emotionally.
Terra ~ If you could be a mouse in the house of everyone of your fans for just a moment in time, what would you wish for them for 2010?
Lynsay ~ Happiness. I wish them all happiness . . . and good health, those two things are very important.

I would have to say this is the first anthology that I have found I loved all three stories. I say kudo’s to your publisher for the great work with putting you, Pamela Palmer and Jamie Rush together. May all of you keep up the good work and I can’t wait to read more.
Thanks so much Lynsay for taking time out of your busy schedule for this interview. You are a much loved lady by so very many of us and we all wish you the best for 2010.
WOW! Thank you, that's so nice of you to say, and I wish the best to yourself and readers as well. I really do wish you all a happy and healthy year. We all deserve it!

since im relativly new to your work what are no fangers and how did you pick the names of your characters like Tiny?
congrats on the new release and ty for coming to day to share ur self and work with us
i haven't read any of your argeneau series books so i was wondering if the story in bitten by cupid can be read in any stage of the series or am i going to be lost in inside jokes between the characters and such?
happy release day!!
I hate to ask this about characters and names; however being a writer myself, I try to avoid this kind of thing. I have noticed that when names like 'Tiny' show up in writing or movies, a massive bulk of a man lumbers into view. Why did you go for this stereotype in this instance when you don't normally in your books?
And yes, I have been reading your books lately and enjoying them.
Hi Lynsay,
Do you think you'll attract new readers since everyone is more into vampires these days?
Love the Argeneau series and it was a great except. Cant wait to finish it and find out what happens.
Will we find out more about what happened to Mirabeau and maybe some more of Tiny's history?
I love the Argeneau books. I think Marguerite should set up a matchmaking business since she is so good at it. Maybe run it from the same office as Bastien. Lonely-heart vamps could use her services since her rate of compatibility is so great.
Do you think this could happen or will she continue to free lance and match more vamps to mortals?
I've picked up Bitten By Cupid and am starting it tonight. Can't wait.
This sounds like fun! Vampires and Valentine's Day, what could be better? Will there be other holiday anthologies in the future? I really look forward to reading this! Best of luck!!

No need to enter me, ladies. I'm dropping in to say thanks to Terra for the e-mail. I've got this posted at Win a Book for you.
Lynsay, if we can help you promote anything at Win a Book, drop us a line. That's what we're here for!
Hi, Lynsay! Congratulations on your latest release! I think "Tiny" is a great name for a big man with an even bigger heart! It was a great excerpt, and I can't wait to see how it ends!

Gees Louise!! First I slept late because my cat kept scratching at the door all night (grrrr) and then I couldn't remember my own password to get in here. Sorry guys. Anyway, I reset it and am here. MORNING!! Well, almost afternoon.
Now SiNn . . .
No fangers are a result of the first test runs with nanos. They are just like immortals, but never gained the fangs and are kind of crazy. Well, okay, they are totally crazy, rabid-dog types. Though there are also a branch that are just like immortals except for the teeth and aren't crazy, but they're called edentates which comes from the latin edentatus meaning toothless or lacking teeth as I recall.
Names usually come with the character when it's a secondary one. Tiny walked in with his and- though I suspect I shouldn't tell you this- the name clicked in my head because when I was nineteen I had a dog named Tiny. He was a chihuahua, at least when we bought him at the pet store he was supposed to be a chihuahua and he was so cute and small at the time when I got him. He fit in my palm he was so tiny so I named him Tiny . . . and then my little Chihuahua proved he had Great Dane in him and got huge. He was not a chihuahua, and must have been under aged to have been so small when I got him. This was a beast, a lovely adorable beast but not the chihuahua I'd expected. He was also somewhat . . . er . . . well he was capable of being destructive, but in a gentle way. The dog ate a hole the size of a soup pot in the matress beside me and I slept through it! But he did loads of other things that always made me think he thought he was a chihuahua and wasn't aware of his size, or at least didn't use it against you.
Tiny just kind of reminded me of him as a character. A very large guy, but gentle and seemingly almost unaware of his size and strength.
I probably really shouldn't admit I named him after a dog. That is so bad. Sigh
Lynsay
Chelleyreads,
I try to make my stories stand alones and I hope Tiny's is as well. People who have read the series will recognize characters from previous stories, but that's just a plus for them, I don't think anyone would have a problem following the story on it's own, and I don't think I used any inside jokes.
Lynsay
Hey Mozette,
I guess I inadvertently answered your question when I answered SiNn's, so I'll just direct you that way.
It's lovely to see another writer here. What have you written? Maybe I've read it.
Lynsay
Hi Dina,
I'm sure I will, though the weird thing is Vamps weren't all that popular when I started the series. In fact no one had done funny vamps and I was worried about how they'd be accepted, afraid readers would be horrified at these human's with fangs and humor. It was a pleasant surprise that they've gone over so well.
My only upset is that I read an article a year or so ago where they called me the grandmother of funny vamps. I squealed in horror at the time. I am not old enough to be a grandmother!! Well, ok, technically I suppose I am. Anyone over 32 COULD be a grannie, but gees, couldn't they have said mother of funny vamps or something. LOL.
Lynsay
Hi donnas,
Yes, you'll find out more about Mirabeau and Tiny. In fact, while in reality I named Tiny after a dog, I gave him a different more dignified reason for it in the book. I felt he deserved that. He is an awesome character and I just think it would go over well to have him named after his mother or father's favorite dog. LOL
Lynsay
Hi orlukjp0,
I think for the next little while Marguerite will be too busy getting reacquainted with Julius and getting to know Christian to do something like that, but give her a couple of years and she may just put up a shingle. She IS very good at it and Julius isn't like Jean Claude was and will encourage her to do something she enjoys. Everyone needs something to occupy their time and she does enjoy it, but don't expect it for a while.
Lynsay
Hi Wrighty,
I don't know. Most of my characters get full stories, but Tiny isn't the only one who gave me a hard time on a full book. I guess it depends on whether my editor comes to me wanting more shorts. I think a halloween vamp could be fun. Just thinking about it stirs ideas in my poor woolley mind. Hmmm.
Lynsay
Hi Susan,
Thank you for the kind offer. I'll have to drop around and check you guys out.
Lynsay
Thank you Virginia, he really is a sweetie is our Tiny. Hope you like it!
Lynsay
I can't wait to read the rest. Do you think it is easier writing a novella compared to a full length novel?
Hi Lynsay, I'm relatively new to your vampire books and are not really following the series as you have written them. I plan to read them all in order someday though. I'm loving them! Reading ahead with Vampire Valentine I smiled a lot. You have such a gift of writing funny stories. Mirabeau holding up her dress because of the rats and later falling in muck. I can picture it and laughed out loud. I read about Tiny before in your other books and believed he was not a very attractive man. I liked that my initial idea changed now that I "saw" him through Mirabeau's eyes.
I'm interested to find out if Tiny will struggle much with the possibility of giving up being human for the love of his life. Does this get much attention in the story?
cait045
Actually, I prefer writing books to novellas. I find it hard to squeeze everything into a novella and inevitably have to leave things out. I want to visit Port Henry again in the future so that I can touch on Tiny and Mirabeau and Stephanie again. Fortunately I have plans for that.
Lynsay
Hi Kirsten,
Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. And it can grow on you as well. I mean an okay looking person can become very attractive once you get to know them. I don't try to make any of my characters great beauties. Some are attractive, some less so but become attractive to each other as they get to know each other, or just because that type suits that person. I'm not into that perfect hero or heroine deal.
As for Tiny, he's a pretty solid guy all the way around. He'll handle it fine, I'm sure. His biggest problem will be having to seperate himself from his family eventually to prevent his lack of aging from being noticed. Fortunately, he has Jackie who is family to him, and Marguerite has pretty much adopted him so they and Mirabeau will help him through it. But I guarantee that even if eventually he can't visit his mortal family, he will be checking up on them and helping them out any way he can on the sly. He's just that kind of guy.
Lynsay
Lynsay, love the Argeneau books so far and am so fantastically glad to read in the interview that not only have you written a Novella about Tiny but that you are planning on some point revisiting he, Mirabeau and Stephanie in a possible full length book. Yeah!!!
I have a Chihuahua and he thinks he is as big as a Great Dane so have the opposite problem you had with your pup, small dog big heart and ego.....
My question for you today is one sure you here all the time, how do you write so many books in a years time when most authors we fans follow only put out 1 or 2 in a year? (not complaining happy you are very prolific)

I enjoy your series and also I'm looking forward to the anthology!
Hi Lynsay!
I've read several of your books since you first started writing and love them. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Tiny & Mirabeau's story. :)
I am drawing a total blank on a question to ask you. Oh, do you ever make it out to Alberta for signings?
jacabur1,
Those other authors probably have lives . . . OH! Did I say that? LOL.
Seriously, I am very fortunate in being able to concentrate solely on writing when I settle down to do it so write around the clock for two to four weeks for each story. It takes a lot out of me and I need the time in between to recoup and catch up on everything I've missed, but it means I write a little faster because I'm not having to reread everything I've already written to get back into the swing of the story.
I write till I fall asleep, then wake up and continue on as if never having left the computer. Most writers have kids and jobs and other responsibilities that they have to attend to. They may write all day and then have to stop and pick up the kids, make dinner and so on. By the time they return to it the next morning so much has happened in their real life they need to reread the entirety of what they've written to pick up the thread again. I couldn't have kids, which sucks and caused me a lot of pain when I was younger and found out, but it leaves me free to write around the clock when I have to.
Lynsay
Lynsay
Glad you're enjoying them tetewa and sidhevicious.
As for booksignings in Alberta, not at the moment, but we have freinds out there so you just never know, in the future we may head out for a visit and do a signing or two while there.
Lynsay
I have only read a couple of the Argeneau books. They were excellent reads.
Are there many more books in this series?
Thank you Estella,
As for many more, there are 12 full novels and the anthology published plus two more written and waiting to be pubbed, and two more contracted. After that it depends on whether you guys keep wanting them and I keep having ideas and the publisher wants to keep printing. Hopefully though
Lynsay
I think A Quick Bite will always be my favorite book in this series. : )
On to the excerpt...how do you keep everyone straight? There are so many characters, from the Argeneaus, to their mates, to their friends. The only way I can remember them all are the recaps you sprinkle in each story, like when they're walking through the sewer and Stephanie's history is given.
I'd like to know who did the cute artwork at the start of the chapters? That gives the stories that extra festive feeling.
joderjo402 AT gmail DOT com
absolutely love Tiny, wish he would have cooperated more so we could get a full novel out of him, but such is life.
my question is...is their a tentative schedule for the books you already have written? i know armand's is scheduled for September, but is there any chatter about the others?
Hi Jackie,
Lissianna and Greg were sweeties so I can see why their story would be your favorite, but I love all of them, lol.
I don’t have trouble keeping the characters straight so much as some of their preferences and so on. I guess they’re like family to me so easier for me to keep them straight.
Lynsay
Hi Joder,
I’m not sure who does the artwork at the start of the chapters. I always just assumed it was my editor, but it may be someone else.
Lynsay
Hi WT4Life2000,
Alex Willan’s story was supposed to follow the month after Armand’s Born to Bite, but the last I heard they had decided on December for it. At the moment I think they are calling it Hungry for You. Two more stories should follow in the fall of 2011.
Lynsay
Thanks Lynsay,
I was a young grandma, thanks to my daughter, lol
I loved the excerpt. I'm still waiting for my book to arrive from Amazon. Its nice to hear that you would like to write Christain's book. Do you have any plans to write Stephanies book in a few years. I enjoy reading your interviews. Are you planning any book tours in the US (Northwest regoin) anytime soon? I think nano's was such an inventive idea. Wishing you health and happiness always. -Jewelz
Hi Jewelz,
Well, I HAVE to write Christian’s book. Marguerite would never forgive me if I didn’t, lol.
As for Stephanie, I have plans for her but she’s way too young right now. Because the immortals are so old they can be pretty overpowering, at least I think they would be, and there’s always a danger that someone not set in personality and career and having experienced some life and gained some confidence from their achievements could be bowled over by them. I’m sure they’d kick out of it eventually but it would cause problems in their relationship that they don’t need so I don’t like to pair them up too young . . . On the other hand, you know, I’m thinking Stephanie would be a handful for any immortal. I can see her totally disrespecting “the old bloodsuckers” and thinking them too stuffy and set in their ways to listen too. She might be fun to play with when she hits 18 or 19 and could give her poor life mate a REALLY hard time, all that bottled anger over being turned against her will “and not even into a proper vamp but some half-vamp freak,” And then she can’t see her family anymore and, and, and . . . She could really be a pain in some guys tookus (did I spell that right?) which is always fun to write. Hmmm . . . I guess I’ll have to do the math on that, figure out when she’ll hit 18 or 19 and when I could start on her story. LOL. See, this is how a book is born. Ask a question, I start to answer one way and then totally flip flop because the character starts speaking up and acting out in my head. Sigh. I sometimes think I really don’t write these stories so much as type what they dictate.
Lynsay the typist
Hey Dina, but I bet you love that grandbaby to bits!
Lynsay
I've obviously not read any of this series, though I've read other of your works - mostly historicals and several anthologies. I remember hearing about the nanos somewhere, but not Edantates and no-fangers. Are there still "regular" vampires in the stories? I just found 4 of your Argeneau books in one of my TBR boxes. (I have a bad habit of buying books that sound really good but don't have enough time to read them all.) (A Bite To Remember, A Quick Bite, Vampire Interrupted, and Vampires Are Forever) I really enjoyed your style and know I'll like these books. Now I need to get the rest so I can read the whole set in order.
If Stephanie's 15yr. old. Will she age to look 25-30 years old? Will she mature like Martine's twins? If she does age to 25-30, then why can't she visit her family? She would have to distance herself 10yr. after she stopped aging, right? Did the first generation nano's change how she age's? Is it a danger to be around her family because of Leo? Her daily intake of blood? Just some thoughts. -Jewelz
I can't wait to read your book. Is there any other genre that you would like to try out ? Just wondering.
seriousreader at live dot com
Where do you get your ideas from? These books are great, I have read all of them. Hope there will be many more to come.
I just thought of something! (Did you see the lightbulb go on? LOL)
Lynsay, you should write a YA novel based on Stephanie's character! Take the Argeneau clan into the YA market by writing about the younger charcters.
Just a thought. :)
I know I'm late but I just want to say that I'm thrilled to see your story contains characters I adore and love..members and friends of the Argeneau family.
Thanks,
Tracey D
I am holding out on reading the excerpt since I haven't been able to get a copy, yet. I don't want to have to stop reading once I start. But I did inadvertently come a cross a small spoiler on the forum and am hoping you have plans for Harper?
Denise
Wonderful interview thanks so much Terra and Lynsay!I am reading Tiny's story now!
Lynsay, When you revist Port Charles Lucian will have his hands full. Have you decided what the sex of the baby will be??
I love the Argeneau series and can't wait for the next. It is good to know that you already have two ready to go.
I enjoyed all the stories in Bitten by Cupid, the publisher did a great job picking them!
Have you come up with any other paranormal stories that you would like to write?
Do you think you would ever add any other types to your Argeneau series like werewolves or shifters?
Wow, i loved the book. It was wonderful. Although certian bits left me said TT^TT Harper! but ir also just made me think of certian people like Steph, she seems so fun :D I'm a long time reader of your books. i have for 5 years sometime this summer, i have recently gotten back to the boards. I used to go by pupylover12397 on there and was the baby of the group :3 but well loved the book. and i cant wait to see Armands book and OMG the final Willan and we also get Cale? yay!
-Kaela
Hi Lynsay
I'm from Jakarta and I love your books. The 1st Argeneau series that I read was about Inez and Thomas and after that I had read all Argeneau series there ever was (although not in the correct order.. >_<).
I just finished reading "The Renegade Hunter" (It was skipped because I read "Bitten By Cupid" before it). Girl, those books made me laughed so loud that my family thought I'm stressed and a little bit loco... ;P
I'm looking forward for Armand and Alex stories. I wonder if you intentionally left their sories hanging in The Renegade?... Anyway, keep your creative mind churning and producing many more stories. I can't wait to get your book in the same month it was released (It takes time for new seller import book to come to Jakarta).
When i read this book, i was feeling wonderfully and amazing this is the best story book.
